Our First Decade of Success

Resume World started as a sole proprietorship business in 1989 with a single vision of creating compelling resumes to help clients secure their next offer of employment and advance their careers.  Soon after, the company established its headquarter at the Aldgate Corporate Centre in Scarborough (now Toronto), Ontario, Canada.  To support rapid business growth, the company opened up two new locations in less than two years – one in North York and the other in Etobicoke.  As the company’s clientele database started growing, writers at Resume World began noticing similarities in client occupations/professions and the needs of employers – more specifically, what they were looking for in potential employees (employability skill-sets, qualifications, etc.).  Combining all of these common elements, a standardized resume writing process was developed and soon followed by a certification process.  This rigorous certification process became the staple of the training regime which all of Resume World’s new hires underwent to guarantee consistent top notch Resume craftsmanship.  This also became the first resume writing certification program in all of Canada.  It was then the company began to edge its way in to becoming the leading resume writing company in all of North America.

Entering in to the 5th year in business, Resume World had created a total of 15,000 resumes.  Before this point in time, resumes were seen as less important and even optional as smaller business provided interviews without resumes.  Larger companies however capture potential employee bio data on their in-house “Employment Application Form” which was designed to solicit specific information related to their company/jobs from candidates.  Job candidates were at a disadvantage as they weren’t able to promote their full skill-sets and qualifications due to this limitation.  Now, resumes have become of utmost importance as employers begin to only offer interviews after they have seen substantial job alignment potential in a job searcher’s resume beforehand.

In 1997, Resume World became a trademark of which Resume World Inc.  A year later, the company established its internet presence on which professional formatting guidelines, templates and worksheets were published to allow public access to its writing expertise and resume resources.

Nearing the end of Resume World’s first decade in business, more than 40,000 resumes had been crafted and the constantly growing clientele database started to move across borders and develop globally with an impressive 99% retention rate.
